It is vital that all women understand the importance of repairing the damage pregnancy does to the pelvic floor. So many women don't realise that neglecting the pelvic floor can lead to unpleasant physical conditions, such as:
Incontenence, both bowel and bladder can be affected,
Prolapse, bladder, uterus and bowels can be affected
Sexual dysfunction, a weak pelvic floor can rob you of a fulfilling physical relationship with your partner

The myth appears to be that women who have had c-section deliveries won't need to worry about their pelvic floor as they have not pushed the baby out through that channel. Well, I've got news for you girls... it is the PREGNANCY that weakens the pelvic floor, not the style of delivery you end up having. The sheer weight of the baby, fluids and placenta are enough to permanently damage the muscles of the pelvic floor and abdominals.

My pelvic floor and core repair workshops have opened womens' eyes to how they can help themselves, and has given them a completely different outlook to postnatal health - take the first steps and find out more by emailing exercise@fitmama.org
